Faries Eye-Saver Streamline Cobra Desk Lamp vintage picks MM - C-5653 - 100223c. 1940s; The Faries Manufacturing Co. Decatur, Illinois Brass desk lamp designed to prevent eye strain by re directing the light downward and away from the user. This was achieved by way of a flat hood (hence the "cobra" name) that shielded the horizontal light from all 360 degrees around the lamp.
